Information for Families
The School Day
The typical school day (Monday - Thursday) runs from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. Arrival begins at 8:00 am with classes starting at 8:30 am. On Fridays, we run a half-day schedule with dismissal at 1:00 pm. Our teachers use Friday afternoons for continual professional development.
Dress Code
The following are minimum dress code requirements, which are subject to be updated as needs to revise arise:
Students may not wear tank tops - this is defined by any shirt that does not cover from the neckline to the shoulder and is capped around the armpit. Shirts must also cover to the waistline (i.e. no midriff shirts).
Students wearing shorts or skirts must ensure they cover half or more of their thigh.
Students may not wear flip-flops. Sandals are permitted, so long as they strap around the heel.
Pajamas or sleepwear, of any kind, are not permitted.
Students may not wear any clothing that advertises alcohol, drugs, or weapons of any kind.
On Fridays, students are required to wear tops with the ChattAcademy logo displayed.
Students are permitted to wear hats, so long as they do not cover their ears. Hoods are not permitted inside the building.
Cell Phone Policy
ChattAcademy is a phone-free school with the following expectations:
Phones and headphones are to be turned off and put into student backpacks. They will stay with the student throughout the day, but they should not be out.
The first time a student is seen on their phone in a given week, they will be instructed to turn it off and put it back in their backpack.
The second time a student is seen on their phone in a given week, it is removed to the main office in a safe, where the student can pick it up at the end of the day.
The third time a student is seen on their phone in a given week, it is removed to the main office in a safe, and a parent must pick up the phone.
The fourth time a student is seen on their phone in a given week, a mandatory parent meeting must be held in order to determine how to best support the student in adhering to the phone-free policy.
Transportation
We offer neighborhood bus stops in most neighborhoods. We do not provide door-to-door service in most cases, and there are some neighborhoods we are unable to serve due to distance and time on the bus for students. Please reach out directly if you have a question about a bus stop!
